The

day by day. In the year 2007, more than 8942 children were
admitted in the ward and most of them as emergency. This is
attributed to extended care, daily consultant OPD, follow-up
clinics and free medicines provided to the admitted patients
with the help of affluent citizens. The Department of Pediatrics
in Allied Hospital is headed by Professor Dr. Ghulam Raza Baloch.
The teaching staff includes one Associate Professor and 2 Senior
Registrar. The teaching staff is actively engaged in teaching
both under graduate and post-graduate students along with the
research activities. There are 12 FCPS trainees at present and
more than a dozen fellow have been produced during last 5 years.
About 17 research papers have also been published in the various
journals and many others are in the pipeline. We are also on the
way to establish our Paediatric Intensive Care and Neonatal
Intensive Care and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to provide
advanced paediatric life support. We intend to make this unit a
center of excellence and a model tertiary care referral center
