The Department of Forensic Medicine was established initially in Kissan Hall university of Agriculture Faisalabad in 1974. It was shifted to the new building of the current campus in 1982.

The Department has a purpose-built building with a lecture theatre, well equipped museum, biological laboratory, conference room, toxicological garden and offices for doctors and department staff. Department is equipped with all modern teaching aids like multimedia, computers, overhead and slide projectors.

The qualified and experienced staff of department is involved actively in teaching and training of Forensic Medicine and toxicology to 3rd year MBBS students. It also imparts medicolegal and postmortem training to the CMO’s/WCMO’s of Faisalabad, Sargodha, Toba Tek Sing & Jhang divisions. Postmortem unit of the department is situated in Allied Hospital Faisalabad. It started working in 1996 and till date, more than 8000 postmortem examinations have been conducted by our well trained staff. It has a demonstration room and a view gallery for medical students where undergraduate students of FMU as well as UMDC, Aziz Fatima Medical College and Independent Medical College are taught. Cold storage facility for 10 dead bodies is also present here .Casualty outdoors of Allied and DHQ hospitals are attached with Forensic Medicine Department since 1999. Every year more than 8000 medicolegal cases are examined here.

The Department comprises of Assistant Professors Dr. Mobin Inam Pal, Dr. Kishwar Naheed, Dr. Saeed Akbar Tariq, Dr. Muhammad Naeem and, Senior Demonstrators Dr. Javed Iqbal, Dr. Zuneera Misbah, Dr. Muhammad Shafique, and Dr. Ehsan Ahmad.

The Department provides technical assistance to District standing medical board Faisalabad and Provincial standing medical board Punjab as well as expert services to the courts of law. The Department also coordinates with poison control Centre.

The Department is actively involved in research, conducting workshops and forensic day on regular basis. It has the credit of multiple publications to its name.
