Prof. Dr. Syed Asghar Naqi, Vice Chancellor, Faisalabad Medical University (FMU), reviewed the proposed project for the Improvement and Upgradation of Medical Oncology, Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy Facilities at Allied Hospital-I, Faisalabad.
During the review, the Vice Chancellor recommended the provision of a Cyclotron Vaultin the prototype design prepared by the Chief Architect's Office. He also identified certain missing facilities and requested that these be incorporated into the proposed design to ensure comprehensive and improved cancer-care services. The project site, which was initially proposed near the old Cancer Hospital Block, is now being shifted to a new location opposite the Blood Bank, near the Lady Doctors' Hostels

The first case of a liver tumor treated through Co-Ablation was successfully performed at the Department of Radiology, Allied Hospital-I, Faisalabad.
The landmark procedure was observed and monitored by:

The procedure was successfully performed by Dr. Hassan Bukhari, Assistant Professor of Interventional Radiology, assisted by Dr. Abdul Raouf, Assistant Professor of Interventional Radiology, under the expert supervision and guidance of Prof. Dr. Asim Shaukat, Head of the Department of Radiology, FMU / Allied Hospital-I.
The tumor was successfully ablated, with post-procedure CT abdomen confirming complete treatment response with no evidence of residual viable tumor activity.
The University expressed its gratitude to the Government of Punjab for facilitating the availability of this advanced treatment facility free of cost for deserving and underprivileged patients.
This achievement marks an important step forward in advanced interventional oncology, modern cancer treatment, and improved patient care at Allied Hospital-I, Faisalabad. 16 September, 2026
