Surgical Unit III Allied Hospital Faisalabad consists of 54 beds and is situated on the 2nd floor and have a very dynamic team of consultants and medical teachers.

The Team is headed by Prof. Dr. Javaid Iqbal who is a Fellow of college of Physicians & Surgeons of Pakistan and Fellow of Royal college of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow. He is certified in medical education from Agha Khan University Karachi and University of Health Sciences Lahore and Liverpool U.K.

and Dr. Zahid Imtiaz Dogar both working as Associate Professors while Dr. Aliya Shaima is the current Assistant Professor providing services to the female patients arriving at the facility, she is also looking after the breast clinic. The armamentarium also includes Senior Registrars Dr. Tahir Nadeem, Dr. Muhammad Ibrar, Dr. Ghulam Mustafa and Dr. Abdullah Saeed; 20 post-graduate trainees and 30 house officers.
Regular teaching rounds are done for the learning and training of the surgical residents and the skill of surgery is taught under direct supervision. Apart from elective cases, our ward is responsible for managing surgical Emergency twice weekly where all kinds of general surgery and trauma cases are dealt with efficiently and carefully. Out-patient duties are also performed twice weekly where residents, house officers and medical students are taught the art of history taking, examination and diagnoses. Our aim is to train the budding surgeons in the field of endoscopic surgery as it is rightly said, ‘There is no scope without an endoscope.

The Unit is popular for doing emergency vascular surgery and all the advanced elective procedures including esophagectomies and whipple procedures, upper and Lower GI procedures.

Apart from Laparoscopic cholecystectomy and Hernia operations the unit is doing all the advanced Laparoscopic Procedures like Incisional hernia repair, Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy, Rectopecxy, Laparoscopic Hiatus Hernia repair and Fundoplication, Laparoscopic Nephrectomy etc.

The Unit is especially famous for doing VATS Thymectomy and Bariatric surgery. Among Bariatric surgery we are regularly doing Sleeve Gastrectomy and OAGB (one anastomosis gastric bypass). A lot of Research projects have been successfully carried out and presently more than 15 research projects are going on. At the end of the day, all of this is to provide better patient management according to the international standards.
